Selecting Online Retailers for Compare

In order to activate additional affiliate retailers, you’ll need to jump over to the Verba Compete Settings page.

Log in to Verba Compete, and then click “Settings” in the top right-hand corner, and “Compare Retailer Options” on the left-hand side:

Fully-Managed Retailers

The Fully-Managed Retailers are those online retailers for which Verba can collect commissions and manage accounts on behalf of its clients. Upon clicking “on” for one of these retailers, Verba automatically creates an affiliate account, displays offers from that retailer in the student shopping experience, and tracks the store’s earnings on behalf of clients. We will send you a check for these affiliate earnings within 30 days of receipt of earnings from each retailer.

To turn on a retailer, just click the slider of “On-Off” to the setting you’d like. For some retailers, only a single variant of a book may be available (e.g., Used). For others, however, multiple options are available, and Verba allows you to select which ones you’d like to display in the student-side comparison. In order to activate a variant (New, Used, Digital, Rental) from a retailer, check the box of the variant that you would like to display. We offer this level of granular control whenever the retailer’s API allows. Don’t forget to click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page when you are finished!

Self-Service Retailers

Self-Service Retailers are those online retailers for which either Verba or the retailer requires a direct relationship with the client store, as opposed to a Verba-managed affiliate account. This entails agreeing directly to the Self-Service Retailer’s Terms of Service and collecting affiliate commissions directly from selected Self-Service retailers.

Once you’ve agreed to their terms and set up a relationship, simply provide us with your Tracking ID for Amazon and Chegg, or just your white-labeled rental site URL for Bookrenter and Follett and flip the “On” switch. For Amazon, we would also like the AWS Access Key and Secret Access Key. If you would like to display Amazon but cannot legally collect commissions, you can still display their New, Marketplace, or both offers and check the “Accept No Commissions” box.

Once again, don’t forget to click Save Changes at the bottom once you’ve made your retailer display decisions.

Lastly, if you’d like to include Amazon.com in your comparison listings, you’ll need to create an affiliate account with Amazon and provide some information to Verba. Check out the help article called “Setting up an Amazon Affiliate Account.”

Once you’ve selected a couple additional retailers in Verba Compete Settings, books in your Compare site should look something like this:
